MELTING: WHERE QUALITY METAL BEGINS

Quality Steel Begins Here

Omaha Steel starts every heat with the highest-quality materials, from the introductory iron units to the certified alloying elements. Every receipt of our raw materials gets inspected to ensure it meets the highest of quality standards. We insist on our materials being in the purest form with the least amount of tramp elements and soluble gasses. Our metallurgical engineers designed our melting practices and chemistry targets to meet the most stringent mechanical property requirements of our alloys each and every time.

Omaha Steel uses four separate coreless induction furnaces featuring dual track technology and load cells. We feature the versatility to run multiple heat sizes and furnaces. We successfully pour all ranges of alloys from carbon steel to high-alloy stainless steels. Omaha Steel employs the latest and most efficient methods to protect our metal during the melting process. Every heat melted undergoes shrouding, resulting in high integrity for every pound of molten metal we put through our pouring processes.

Ultimate Control Paired with Versatility

The induction melting process allows for a controlled, expeditious melting process. We operate our furnaces with correct frequency, producing the most homogeneous alloys. Our shrouding technology provides precise control over the liquid metal’s contact with the atmosphere. Omaha Steel has furnaces with multiple sizes, providing us the versatility to deliver molten alloys in the most economical batch sizes to meet each customer’s needs. The variable sizes of our induction furnaces, the level of control provided, and the expertise of Omaha Steel means you get steel castings that meet your specifications and your demands.

Our melting process reflects Omaha Steel’s continuing commitment to producing the highest-quality steel. We invite you to learn more about Omaha Steel, up close and personal, by requesting a visit. When you see us in person, you’ll see we take great pride in everything we do.
