In our business, the level of dedication and cooperation within a company’s workforce often is the difference maker between winning a contract and not. That’s why we value our employees and pursue company growth through hiring top candidates across every position. Omaha Steel prefers not just highly skilled people, but people who collaborate with others and strive for improvement daily.

Omaha Steel looks for a range of qualifications within our workforce. We hire candidates who meet those qualifications and reflect certain attributes. Please review them below.

  • Certification of proficiency in applicable standards and testing (ex: ASNT, ASTM E-488, Magmasoft, Visual Inspection)

Employees whose core values are consistent with those that we value as an organization forms our foundation for success. Those values are:

We do what we will say we do. We take personal responsibility for our actions and overall business performance. By holding ourselves accountable, we embrace and drive change by identifying opportunities to improve our business and develop solutions for customers. We foster a “think like an owner” attitude, focusing on generating results rather than placing blame. We have a bias toward action, and we act with a sense of urgency. We are responsible for the safety of each other, for maintaining the high integrity and reputation of our brand, and for protecting the environment.

We take pride in our work and strive to be the best. We will always push to go farther, do better, and be faster. We don’t settle for adequacy. We choose to be exceptional in areas that matter to our customers. We inspire others toward the pursuit of growth and learning, so that we can continue building upon the foundation that has allowed us to become a sustainable organization. We solicit feedback from our colleagues and customers so we may continue outperforming our competition. We look for employees with a can-do attitude to join us in our tireless pursuit of excellence. This mentality enables us to do more with less.

Our people have diverse backgrounds and experience. Their collaborative efforts serve as the groundwork for our competitive advantage, and we believe our people are our most important asset. Our teams share ideas, are open to new ideas, and solicit feedback from diverse perspectives. As we work together, we facilitate constructive dialogues and develop solutions that move the organization forward. We recognize the importance of teamwork and developing people. We look for team members who are willing to stretch and take assignments that enhance our business.

Free from pride or arrogance, we engage in self-reflection and have an openness to new ideas and a curiosity to learn. We solicit constructive feedback and admit our mistakes so that we can learn from them. We never underestimate our competition, and we seek to improve our business continuously. We model behavior that encourages equitable and respectable treatment for all. Our service-minded culture enables us to continue developing new and innovative solutions for our customers.

We build open, honest relationships, cultivating trust with our customers, suppliers, coworkers, shareholders and our local community. We honor our commitments to all, and we believe in being fair and standing up for what is right.

We empower employees with the ability to make decisions or propose ideas that move our organization forward. We do not focus solely on short-term financial performance and feel it’s our personal responsibility to have a “think like an owner” attitude. We are productive and efficient at managing our resources and initiate waste elimination whenever we can. If we see misinformation or someone dropping the ball, it’s our personal obligation to act and assist. We exhibit a high degree of professionalism and make careful and responsible decisions for our company and our customers.

If these attributes describe you, please review our open positions and apply. We look forward to hearing from you.
