HR Generalist

Job Position: HR Generalist

DEPARTMENT: HUMAN RESOURCES

Shift: All | Reports to Human Resources Manager

The HR Generalist will play a vital role in supporting the company’s staffing and retention needs by sourcing and interviewing prospective employees for all levels of company positions. This position will also assist in the administration of additional human resource projects related to training, retention and mentoring. This position will coordinate various HR projects and administrative tasks while working both independently and under general supervision from the HR Manager. Excellent customer service focus, creative and innovative problem-solving, stellar communication skills, and a high degree of flexibility, are keys to success in this role.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills

  • Primary focus will be on recruitment – including strategies around sourcing and ad placement, community outreach, screening, interviewing and recommending applicants for hire, in addition to the administration of pre-employment testing and background checks
  • Compliance, maintenance and administration of E-Verify process, new hire packets, job evaluation and job descriptions
  • Develop and place recruitment ads with appropriate media. Continually evaluate the placement options and effectiveness
  • Ensure job descriptions are in place and updated annually for all positions
    Assist in managing the exit interview process to ensure exit interviews are completed and data is compiled
  • Assist in administration of the organizational compensation program; write job descriptions, evaluate positions, recommend merit adjustments, promotional increases and annual adjustments to the salary structure and complete wage/salary surveys
    Assist with the development of in-house training systems that address company training needs
  • Audit training records to assure they are current and employees performing the tasks are qualified to do so and correct any deficiencies found
  • Assist in maintaining employee and candidate-related databases (Paylocity, Odyssey, EXCEL)
  • Interprets, assists and advises employees and managers on HR procedures and policies.
  • Performs administrative duties in support of the maintenance of employee records, including personal status updates, terminations, and new hires.
  • Have general understanding of legal and regulatory factors affecting compensation and benefits
  • Assists in the collection of employee information for reports and statistical research.
  • Participates as an active member of the safety committee
  • Participates in all Safety related areas such as safety audits and job analysis
  • Maintains a high level of integrity and discretion in the handling of confidential information.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all employees in the company
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Entry Level Qualifications and Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited University/College with Human Resources Emphasis preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an HR related role or equivalent experience preferred
    Strong customer service
  • Bilingual Skills a Plus
  • Ability to work independently, but a strong effective team player mentality is a must.
  • Commitment to delivering results; be solutions-oriented; have good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must have reliable attendance, willingness to work flexible hours when needed
  • Able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks in an unsupervised manner
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Rapport Building – have initial and continuing impact; meet people easily; get along well with people and put them at ease, quickly build rapport through proactive development of relationships
  • Ability to plan and organize – be able to establish a course of action to accomplish a specific goal; plan proper assignments of personnel and allocate resources needed in order to handle special events
