Mold-Core Department Supervisor

Job Position: Mold-Core Department Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: MOLD/CORE

Wages: Salary| Hours: Full-time | Reports to Mold/Core Dept. Manager

Summary of Postion

Manage all mold and core processes. Perform all aspects of the molding process. Influence, train and communicate with other employees to produce quality castings while reducing scrap and rework, meeting on time shipment schedules, minimizing cost and maintaining a positive work environment.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills:

  • Manage and develop employees
  • Manage the cost of the department
  • Train the employees on mold and core making procedures
  • Manage continuous improvement
  • Maintain the department with a “5S” philosophy
  • Reduce/eliminate core and mold scrap
  • Assist maintenance with maintaining equipment
  • Establish intervals of tooling repair/cleaning
  • Communicate with other supervisors to improve quality and productivity
  • Act in a professional manner when conducting business for the company
  • Be knowledgeable of the company’s ISO program
  • Lead mold room employees by direction and influence; maintain a positive working environment
  • Conduct quality inspections and carry out reaction plans as needed to resolve issues
  • Carry out all aspects of molding operation
  • Communicate daily with any/all departments directly related to molding process
  • Operate manual machines and power hand tools
  • Perform documentation such as routing, scheduling, and quality
  • Perform housekeeping as needed to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned

Entry Level Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must have High School diploma or GED; two (2)+ years mold room experience; leadership training and forklift experience are a plus.
  • Must be able to lead, supervise and work with a variety of employees
  • Must be able to schedule production as needed
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Must be a good communicator
  • Must possess good writing skills.
  • Able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks in an unsupervised manner
  • Must have reliable attendance, willing to work flexible hours, & work well with others
  • Must perform other duties as assigned
